The reason for the chronic kidney disease could vary from the people and varies the condition in every person. The causes may be different but in totality a number of things which can damage kidney function, includes:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • • Glomerular diseases (diseases that attack blood vessels in the kidneys)
  • Poison
  • • Trauma any physical
  • • Or Long-term use of some painkillers

Genetic disorders can also affect the kidney disease.

At the same time Kidney disease can also be congenital, which means it has been developed while a baby is still inside the womb.

Most kidney diseases attack nephrons, causing them to lose their filtering capacity. Damage to the nephrons may happen quickly, often as result of injury or poisoning. But most kidney diseases destroy nephrons slowly and silently. It may take years for damage to become apparent.

Out of the above, the most of the common reason to develop kidney disease is Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. Diabetic Nephropathy that keeps body from using sugar, as it should. If sugar stays in blood instead of breaking down, it can act like a poison. Damage to nephrons from unused sugar in blood is called diabetic nephropathy. High Blood Pressure may damage small blood vessels in kidneys. Damaged vessels cannot filter poisons from blood as they are supposed to. Inherited and Congenital Kidney Diseases result from hereditary factors.

A number of things can cause kidney failure, but post renal acute renal failure in particular is caused by anything that interferes with the flow of urine out of your kidneys. All of the blood in your body goes through the kidneys, where waste is usually filtered out and excreted from the body as urine. However, in people with post renal acute renal failure, something interrupts the urine flow from the kidneys, which means waste can’t be filtered or disposed of correctly and waste builds up in the blood. Usually, post renal acute renal failure is caused by some kind of obstruction in the bladder or its related passageways. Kidney stones or tumors in the ureters (the tubes connecting your kidneys to your bladder) can block waste from passing into the bladder. Also, anything that causes an obstruction in the bladder itself, such as an enlarged prostate, a bladder stone, or a blood clot, may stop urine from properly passing out of the kidneys and through the bladder.

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a genetic disorder in which many cysts develop in kidneys. These cysts may slowly replace much of mass of kidneys, reducing kidney function and leading to kidney failure. A child may grow unusually slowly, may vomit often, or may have back or side pain. Some kidney diseases may be “silent” for months or even years. The first sign of a kidney problem may be high blood pressure, low number of red blood cells (anemia) or blood or protein in urine. Some hereditary kidney diseases may not be detected until adulthood.

Creatinine is a chemical waste molecule which is generated in blood  or created by normal breakdown from the muscle metabolism, a molecule of major importance for energy production in muscles. The process of filtration of creatinine  done by the kidney’s out of blood and put it in urine to leave from the body. Average 2% of the body’s creatine converted to creatinine every day and transported through the bloodstream to the kidneys.
Normally, the muscle mass in the body is relatively constant, the creatinine level in the blood remains essentially unchanged on  daily basis. The kidney’s maintain the blood creatinine in a normal range. Creatinine is chiefly filtered out of the blood by the kidneys, though a small amount is actively secreted by the kidneys into the urine. If the filtering of the kidney is deficient, blood levels then rise. Therefore, creatinine levels in blood and urine used to calculate the creatinine clearance(Cr Cl) which reflects the glomerular filtration rate(GFR), clinically an important aspect to measure the renal function.
However, in cases of severe renal dysfunction, the creatinine clearance rate will be “overestimated” because the active secretion of creatinine will account for a larger fraction of the total creatinine cleared.
A more complete estimation of renal function can be made when interpreting the blood(plasma) concentration of creatinine along with that of urea.
BUN-to-creatinine ratio (the ratio of urea to creatinine) can show other problems besides those intrinsic to the kidney; a urea level raised out of proportion to the creatinine may show a prerenal problem such as volume depletion. Normally, men tend to have higher levels of creatinine because they generally have more skeletal muscle mass than women. It has also been observed that vegetarians to have lower creatinine levels too.
When the kidneys become impaired for any reason, the creatinine level in the blood will rise due to poor clearance by the kidneys,means unable to filter it properly. Abnormally high levels of creatinine thus warn of possible malfunction or failure of the kidneys. It is for this reason that standard blood tests routinely check the amount of creatinine in the blood.
A more precise measure of the kidney function can be estimated by calculating how much creatinine cleared from the body by the kidneys and it is referred to creatinine clearance. Normal levels of creatinine in the blood are about 0.6 to 1.2 milligrams (mg) per deciliter(dl) in adult men and 0.5 to 1.1 milligrams per deciliter in adult women. In the metric system,a milligram is a unit of weight equal to one-thousandth of a gram,and a deciliter is a unit of volume equal to one-tenth of a liter. Whatever the condition that impairs the function of kidneys will probably increase the creatinine level in the blood. It is important to recognize whether the process leading to kidney dysfunction.
The liver is responsible for the urea and passed out-of-body through urine. If kidneys are not able to remove urea from the blood normally, BUN level rises. Heart failure,dehydration,or a diet high in protein can also make BUN level higher. (BUN)test  to:see if severe dehydration is present. Kidney disease or blockage of the flow of urine from kidney causes both BUN and creatinine levels to go up. High values BUN can mean kidney injury or disease is present. Kidney damage caused may be because of diabetes or high blood pressure that directly affects. High BUN levels can also be caused by blockage of the urinary tract (by kidney stone or tumor) or low blood flow to the kidneys caused by dehydration or heart failure.  A high BUN value is caused by a high-protein diet,or from bleeding in the gastrointestinal digestive tract or respiratory tract. Low values – A low BUN value is caused by a diet very low in protein, malnutrition, or severe liver damage. Drinking excessive amounts of liquid may cause dehydration and cause a low BUN value. A low BUN-to-creatinine ratio may be caused by a diet low in protein. Taking diuretics, which can cause dehydration.
Gastrointestinal bleeds – It is useful for the diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients who do not present with overt vomiting of blood.
The most common causes of longstanding kidney disease are high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus. Certain drugs can sometimes cause abnormally elevated creatinine levels. Serum creatinine can also transiently rise after ingestion of large amount of dietary meat.

High creatinine levels indicate a pure test while low amounts of creatinine in the urine show a manipulated test, either through the addition of water in the sample or by drinking excessive amounts of water.

The spine is a very complex structure that is never still, and it is involved in the slightest movement, including breathing. Our upright posture puts additional stress on the neck and the small of the back, which are the commonest sites of backache. Most people suffer from it at some time in their lives. The back pain may be sharp and sudden or an ache may develop gradually over several hours or during the night. There may b an obvious cause such as an injury, unaccustomed activity, strain during strenuous movement such as lifting, digging, twisting the trunk or jolting from travelling over rough roads. But back pain can begin after what seems to be a trivial twist or stretch or it may bear no relation to any particular activity. Pain and stiffness are usually confined to one region of the back.
The backaches that affect otherwise well people are the result of minor strains or injures to the joints between the vertebrae and their surrounding ligaments and muscles. The main source of pain and stiffness is the protective spasm of muscles around the injured part. When back pain is the result of a minor strain, it can overcome very effectively in a short span of time. This type of backache is seldom a symptom of serious disease but is a warning that care must be taken to protect the back from further injury and thus prevent chronic pain and disability. The treatment for acute symptoms of uncomplicated back strain consists of rest. If one feels pain while on rest or if it is severe enough to restrict most activities or there is no improvement in a week’s time, it needs more investigation. Chronic back pain associated with other symptoms such as fever should always be investigated as it may be a sign of disease of the vertebrae or spinal joints and occasionally may be caused by disorders of the abdominal or pelvic organs particularly the kidneys and reproductive organs.
Spinal nerves have motor fibers and sensory fibers. The motor fibers innervate certain muscles, while the sensory fibers innervate certain areas of skin. A skin area innervated by the sensory fibers of a single nerve root is known as a dermatome. A group of muscles primarily innervated by the motor fibers of a single nerve root is known as a myotome. Although slight variations do exist, dermatome and myotome patterns of distribution are relatively consistent from person to person.

Each muscle in the body is supplied by a particular level or segment of the spinal cord and by its corresponding spinal nerve. The muscle, and its nerve make up a myotome.
One should follow the followings when driving long distances;
 • Travel slowly over rough roads.
 • Ensure that the vehicle has well padded seats, which will help reduce the amount of vibration being passed up the spine.
 • Support the lower back with a small cushion or lumbar roll.
 • Tilt the seat backwards to about 110 angel to reduce vertical pressure on the spine.
 • One should change the posture frequently to encourage circulation and prevent muscle tiredness.
 • Make sure that the distance from the seat to the foot pedals suits your legs.
 • Take heavy objects out of back pockets to reduce twisting forces on the lower spine.
 • Take care when getting in and out of vehicles. Sit sideways on the seat first then lift your legs in and rotate your body into the travelling position and do the opposite when getting out. Avoid sudden bending or twisting movements.
 • Reduce driving time. Frequent stops help. As often as possible get out, stretch your back and walk around a little.
 • Exercise regularly to help strengthen lower back muscles.
 • Invest in power steering which reduces strain on the lower back.
 Common sites of back pain;
-Pain in the neck may be caused by osteoarthritis of neck joint, injuries such as whiplash or neck muscle tension.
 -Pain and tenderness around shoulder blade is a feature of fibromyalgia syndrome.
 -Upper back pain is common in osteoporosis and may also occur in spinal osteoarthritis.
 -Pain in the small of the back may indicate kidney disease such as pyelonephritis.
 -Lower back pain and stiffness may be caused by muscle, joint, ligament or disc injury.
 -Pain and tenderness at the tail end of the spine can result from injury to the coccyx from falling onto the buttocks.
 -Sciatica, caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve is pain in the buttock that spreads down the back of the leg to the foot.
 Reducing back strain;
-When lifting heavy objects, keep your back straight and  bend your knees. Do not stoop, if the object is too heavy, ask someone to help.
 -At the desk, keep your back straight and rest both feet on the floor. A well designed office chair provides good back support.
 -Your load should be equally distributed if possible when you are carrying bags.

Pain results from stimulation of special sensory nerve receptors in the skin or within the body by tissue injury or disease, or by stretching or spasm of muscle. The sensation of pain has the important role of drawing attention to the fact that something is wrong, forcing the sufferer to look for and correct the cause. Usually the site nature and intensity of pain give an indication of its cause and importance. The perception of pain varies both between individuals and in the same person at different times. Referred pain is felt in areas other than the damaged part of the body , for example in the arm during a heart attack. Phantom pain feels as if it comes from a limb or part that has been amputated because that  is the way the brain interprets impulses from nerves in the stump. 
Acupuncture for Pain – Physical pain is a common occurrence for many.  People use acupuncture for various types of pain. Back pain is the most commonly reported use, followed by joint pain, neck pain, and headache. Acupuncture is being studied for its efficacy in alleviating many kinds of pain. There are promising findings in some conditions, such as chronic low-back pain and osteoarthritis of the knee.

PAIN may be specified as;  
Neuropathic: Pain caused by damage to or malfunction of the nerves themselves. The peripheral nerve system includes all the nerves that lead to and from the spinal cord. These nerves transmit pain signals to the brain. If they are injured, neuropathic pain may develop — pain caused by injury to the nerves themselves. The other term peripheral neuropathy, which is another way to say neuropathic pain since it is damage to the peripheral nerve system. Damage to the central nervous system can also trigger neuropathic pain. Chronic neuropathic pain can be especially challenging to treat because it can be difficult to pinpoint where and how the nerves are damaged.
Nociceptive: Nociceptors are the receptors in the nervous system that get activated when there’s an injury. If there isn’t an injury from outside the nervous system, the nociceptors aren’t active. Nociceptive pain, then, is pain caused by an injury to something other than the nerves. In chronic pain, though, the nociceptors may still be sending pain messages long after the original injury has healed. The various types of chronic nociceptive pain are:
somatic – Soma means “body,” so somatic pain comes from injuries to the outer body—skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, bones, etc. It’s generally easy to identify where somatic pain comes from, and the pain can be sharp or throbbing (depends on what part of body is injured).
Bone pain is a somatic pain. Bones can ache. If the bones have been weakened by another condition, such as cancer or osteoporosis, then you can have a very achy and very intense dull pain. Bone pain can also be acute: if break in a bone, for example, that is acute pain. If the bone heals but still have a throbbing pain (it may be constant or it may come and go), that can be considered chronic bone pain. Muscle pain is a somatic pain. Chronic muscle pain is more than a strained muscle, means muscles may have a chronic muscle spasm that causes them to be tense. This form of muscle overload can cause long-lasting pain, especially in the back. Muscle pain can also develop as part of certain chronic conditions, such as fibromyalgia.
visceral – viscera are internal organs—specifically those contained in abdomen and chest cavity. The stomach is an example of a visceral organ. Not every organ has nociceptors, so not every internal organ can send pain messages if it’s been injured (the lungs, for example, don’t have nociceptors).
However, if an injure to organ that has nociceptors, you will probably feel a deep, achy pain, and it will be hard to pinpoint where the pain is coming from. Visceral pain can also have referred pain. That means that the brain can’t distinguish the pain from the organ from pain from another part of body. For example, if having kidney problem, then low back may be painful.
Figuring out, chronic pain may be a difficult process, especially since many types of chronic pain may not come from any noticeable injury or disease. Also, since pain is such a subjective experience.

It can be: throbbing, aching, shooting, electric, burning, sharp, feeling stiff, feeling tight, feeling sore. It can lead to other problems, especially social and emotional ones. Chronic pain may: lead to sleeplessness, drain you of energy, lead to depression, make you not want to do activities you typically enjoy, weaken your immune system because so much of your body’s energy is spent dealing with the pain.  A lot of these other problems build off each other, so you may hear the phrase “vicious cycle” when talking about chronic pain. For example: The pain makes it difficult to sleep at night, so you’re excessively tired the next day. You don’t want to go to work—or do anything else—because you’re so tired. Because you aren’t as active, you lose self-esteem and start to withdraw even more from your social life.  A cycle like that doesn’t have to control your life, though.
Other common chronic back pain causes are :
Trauma or injury.
Poor posture.
Obesity – excess weight puts excess pressure and stress on the spine and can wear out faster or simply not work as well, perhaps leading to chronic pain.
Aging – various parts of the spinal anatomy and other joints can wear out over time (a process called degeneration, there’s no guarantee that an aging spine will be painful, though: it all depends on how the degeneration process affects it.
Nerve damage,an example, a spinal nerve root can be pinched by a herniated disc, causing pain. Even after treating the herniated disc, the pain may persist because of nerve damage. Nerves can be injured by arachnoid’s (inflammation of a tissue that protects the nerve roots),
Arthritis (again, the inflammation can compress the nerve), and
diabetes, cancer, lyme disease, an infection, and more. Nerves can have trouble relaying the appropriate message if they’ve been damaged.

A process to remove or filters waste products and excess fluids from the blood,when kidneys no longer can, normally done in chronic KIDNEY FAILURE condition <in which the kidneys can not perform the function of filteration of the wastes, excess water and fluids properly>.  According to conventional medicine system, in chronic kidney failure, dialysis must be performed twice or three times a week for life, or until the kidney transplant is performed. There are two methods of dialysis;
Hemodialysis diverts the patients blood through an artificial kidney ( a renal dialysis machine that filters the blood in imitation of the kidneys. It is mostly performed in out patient clinics. Here, the blood from an artery in the patients arm is delivered to the dialysis machine, where it is separated from the dialysis fluid by an artificial membrane through which waste chemicals and water can be filtered out. At the end of this process the blood is returned to an arm vein.
Peritoneal dialysis uses the filtering properties of the peritoneum, the membrane that lines the abdominal and pelvic cavities and covers the intestines. Waste products in the blood passing through the peritoneal capillaries are filtered into fluid introduced into the peritoneal cavity via a catheter <thin tube> inserted through a small incision in the abdominal wall allows dialysis fluid to pass into the peritoneal cavity. 
Dialysis is not a cure, but it can help the affected person feel better and live longer.  Kidney transplant may be best choice if you are otherwise healthy. With a new kidney, you will feel much better and be able to live a more normal life. But have to wait for a kidney that is a good match for blood and tissue type.
Dialysis Diet – When the food that consume is digested, the blood picks up nutrients and carries them to all the cells in the body. Fluids – A dialysis diet is required to control the amount of fluids, potassium, phosphorous and sodium in the body. This needs to be done while ensuring that the body gets enough calories and proteins for maintaining health. The body can accumulate fluids between dialysis sessions, causing puffiness or weight gain, and must be controlled. Some fruits and vegetables contain a lot of water and therefore should be limited to small quantities. These include melons, grapes, oranges, tomatoes, celery and the like.
Minerals –
Healthy kidneys maintain a proper level of phosphorous to keep a steady heart beat. Smaller portions of foods rich in potassium like avocados, bananas, kiwis and dried fruit are recommended to limit potassium intake. The same rule applies to oranges, melons and pears. You can remove some of the potassium from some vegetables like tomatoes and potatoes by peeling them and soaking in large amounts of water for several hours. Too much phosphorus can weaken bones by pulling out calcium. Milk, cheese, dried beans, peas, colas, nuts and peanut butter should also be controlled since they have a high phosphorous content.
Proteins – Usually a low-protein diet is advised for a natural weight loss to help in maintaining muscle and repairing damaged tissue. In case of dialysis, you may be advised to follow a high-protein diet to restrict production of wastes like urea. Take high-quality proteins from fish, and egg whites.

Don’t put the salt shaker on the table, or get a shaker that lets very little salt come out. Use light salt or salt substitute sparingly. Always measure the salt in recipes and use half of what is called for.

Anuria means cessation of urine output.  Anuria may result from severe disease of, or inadequate blood flow through, the kidneys, or a complete blockage of urine flow by anything such as stones or tumours that blocks both ureters or the bladder outlet, or obstructs the urethra by enlargement of the prostate gland. URINE Albumin 
 Urine with protein or albumin is related to Hypertension or Diabetic.  Kidneys normally prevent large molecules such as albumin from being excreted in the urine, high levels of urinary albumin excretion, called albuminuria, also indicate kidney is some how not functioning properly.  It also reflect dysfunction of endothelial cells throughout the body, which in turn may be a precursor to hypertension or cardiovascular disease.  The urinary albumin : creatinine ratio is a useful measure of renal function used in diabetic renal disease.
 Diabetes is a condition caused by too much glucose(sugar) in the blood.  Normally, the amount of sugar in the blood is controlled by a hormone called insulin, which is produced by the pancreas gland. When food is digested and enters in the bloodstream, insulin moves any glucose out of the blood and into the cells, where it is broken down to produce energy.  However, in those with diabetes, the body is unable to break down the glucose into energy. This is because there is either not enough insulin to move the glucose, or because the insulin that is there, does not work properly.
 The following may also affect the results;  Severe emotional stress.  Strenuous exercise.  Receiving a special dye (contrast media) for a radiology before the urine test. Urine contaminated with vaginal secretions. This test is most often performed when kidney disease is suspected.  
 Albumin is a protein made by the liver. A serum albumin test measures the amount of this protein in the clear liquid portion of the blood.  This test can help determine if a patient has liver or kidney disease, or if the body is not absorbing enough protein.
 Albumin helps move many small molecules through the blood, including bilirubin, calcium, progesterone, and medications. It plays an important role in keeping the fluid from the blood from leaking out into the tissues.  Because albumin is made by the liver, decreased serum albumin may be a sign of liver disease. It can also result from kidney disease, which allows albumin to escape into the urine. Decreased albumin may also be explained by malnutrition or a low protein diet.
 Blood is made up of two parts: Fluid (plasma or serum) Cells. Plasma contains various substances. Serum is the fluid part that remains after the blood is allowed to clot in a test tube. Specifically, serum is the fluid part of blood after a substance called fibrinogen has been removed.  Cells in the blood include red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.   Blood helps move oxygen, nutrients, waste products, and other materials through the body. It helps control body temperature, fluid balance, and  the body’s acid-base balance. 
 Blood clots are the clumps that occur when the blood hardens from a liquid to a solid (coagulates). A blood clot that forms inside a blood vessel or within the heart and remains there is called a thrombus.  A thrombus that travels from the blood vessel or heart to another location in the body is called an embolus. The disorder is called an embolism. For example, an embolus that occurs in the lungs is called a pulmonary embolism.  Sometimes other materials can act like an embolus and block blood flow, including: Air.  Amniotic fluid.  A piece of atherosclerotic plaque.  Fat clumps.  Small pieces of tumor.
